Optimizing Your Pay Per Click Campaign

When you optimize your PPC campaign, you are working on it to get it to perform as best as it can. Even if your campaign is doing well, it is always a good idea to keep tweaking and improving so you can continue to improve your conversion rate.

Here are some tips to optimize your B2C or B2B PPC campaign:

1. Structure Your Account

If you’ve got a bunch of keywords thrown together in one ad group, your performance is going to suffer. You need to structure your account in a way that the keywords in each ad group are very closely grouped together.

The better your account structure, the better your campaign will do. This is the foundation and if you don’t get this right, you’re going to have problems with everything else.

2. Focus on the Best Performing Keywords

If you notice there are keywords that are performing well for you then you should focus on them. Don’t think you have to keep all of the keywords just because they get a visit here and there.

When you find a keyword that is doing very well, you may want to give it its own ad group. When a keyword has its own ad group, it is easier for you to bid on variations of the keyword that will also perform well.

3. Spend Some Time on Negative Keywords

You wake up one morning and you realize that one of your keywords got more clicks than usual. It’s exciting but then you find out that it’s a meme that’s gone viral and is not at all relevant to your business.

You need to quickly put the term in your negative keywords so that you don’t get clicks from this irrelevant term.

The more negative keywords you can build out, the less you’ll spend on advertising to people that are not interested in your business.

4. Create New Text

Even if your ad is doing well, you can try out different variations of your ad text. You can do an A/B split test to see which version of the text is going to do the best for you. Continue to test until you are happy with your results.
